3D Robotic Data Collection
Our Technology
3D Robotic Data Collection
The most advanced field data collection technology available — delivering faster, more accurate results than traditional survey methods.
The Technology
What Is 3D Robotic Data Collection?
3D robotic data collection uses motorized, self-tracking total station instruments to automatically measure and record precise three-dimensional coordinates of points throughout a site. Unlike traditional survey methods that require two-person crews and manual instrument operation, robotic total stations can be operated by a single person — dramatically increasing efficiency without sacrificing accuracy.
The instrument automatically tracks a reflector prism carried by the field technician, continuously measuring distance and angles to calculate precise 3D coordinates. This data is stored digitally and transferred directly to CAD software for processing — eliminating manual data entry and the errors that come with it.
The result: faster field collection, higher accuracy, and richer deliverables than traditional methods — at competitive pricing that reflects our efficiency advantage.
Sub-Centimeter Accuracy
Robotic total stations achieve ±1-3mm positional accuracy — far exceeding the requirements of most construction projects.
Faster Field Collection
Single-person operation and automated tracking enable significantly faster data collection than traditional two-person crews.
Digital Data Capture
All measurements stored digitally in the field — no manual recording, no transcription errors, no data loss.
Rich 3D Data
Every point captured as a true 3D coordinate, enabling accurate terrain modeling, volume calculations, and design verification.
GPS Integration
Seamless integration with GPS/GNSS receivers for rapid control establishment and large-area data collection.
CAD-Ready Output
Field data processes directly into AutoCAD and Civil 3D — no intermediate steps, no data conversion errors.
Robotic vs. Traditional Survey Methods
The advantages of 3D robotic data collection over traditional survey methods translate directly into better outcomes for your project.
Faster Completion
Robotic instruments collect data 2-3x faster than traditional methods, reducing field time and mobilization costs.
Higher Accuracy
Automated tracking and digital recording eliminate the human errors inherent in manual instrument operation and data recording.
More Data Points
Faster collection means more data points per hour — resulting in more complete, detailed topographic models.
Digital Traceability
Every measurement is digitally recorded with timestamps and metadata, providing a complete audit trail for quality control.
Faster Deliverables
Digital field data processes directly into CAD — no manual drafting, no data entry, dramatically faster turnaround.
Lower Error Risk
Automated workflows eliminate the manual calculation and transcription errors that are common in traditional survey methods.
